Israeli Government approves the appointment of a new Foreign Minister

A government statement stated that the Israeli government approved appointing a new Foreign Minister to replace Eli Cohen. Cohen will now become Energy Minister as part of an agreed-upon ministerial rotation.

The Israeli parliament must approve the appointments.

Cohen will remain a member in the security cabinet, while Yisrael Kats will be the foreign affairs minister. The statement was released as Israel entered its post-attack period after the Palestinian militants attacked Israel on October 7, killing 1200 people and capturing 240 captives.

In addition, the Israeli government has given its approval for the postponement of municipal elections in February.

A statement by the Prime Minister’s Office said: “We don’t usually hold elections during wartime, but these elections were determined in advance.”

They have already been delayed once.
