Are You Ready for a Paddington Stage Musical?

ou can call it the Paddingtonverse… or don’t. We’re not in charge of you. Jim Broadbent’s beloved little bear has a new adventure — to the theatre. We’ve finally reached the stage in the cycle when the decision was made to make his story into a musical.

Studiocanal which has produced (so-far) two films is backing this film, partnering with Sonia Friedman Productions, and Eliza Lumley Productions. There are few details available so far. The only thing we know is that the movie will debut in 2025, and Tom Fletcher, from

In a joint press release, Friedman and Lumley stated that it was a great honor to create a musical about the adorable and loved little bear. “The magic of Paddington lies in his wide-eyed innocent, which allows him to see the best in people, and reminds us that kindness and love can triumph when we open our minds and hearts. We can’t wait to bring Paddington and his adventures with the Brown Family, as well as Michael Bond’s other beloved characters, to the stage. “We hope to inspire audiences with beauty, fun, and joy. And all that Paddington represents.”

Paddington is set to return on screens in 2024, as director Dougal Wilson oversees Paddington in Peru during post-production. The release date has been scheduled for 8 November 2024.

We can expect a musical film version in ten years or less, given this latest development.
